Vicky Cosstick carried out an assignment for three Northern NGOs working in partnership behind a large programme with farmers in Malawi to establish sustainable farming methods and food security.
The consultancy had the aim of kickstarting a five-year programme funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy, which uses learning as a means to enhance and significantly upscale programme delivery as well as shifting the focus from service delivery to advocacy and farmers’ empowerment.
The methodology involved a 10-day visit to Malawi alongside a local consultant to work with the country staff team and local communities to understand the ambitious, complex and unusual RNE programme better and plan for its future implementation. A report documented the processes facilitated in Malawi and recommendations for next steps.
